I Just Opine » Filipino Tradition

Finally, after years of togetherness, the love of Patrick Santillan (a high school friend) and Karen Paña was finally binded by a marriage on July 24, 2010 at Villa Escudero Tiaong, Quezon. All the important persons were around to witness how the couple vouched with each other, TILL DEATH DO US PART and exchanged the I DO. Finally…

The long wait was over, the groom entered with his parents waited for his bride in front of the altar. Primary sponsors, flower girls, ring and bible bearers, best man, maid of honor, secondary sponsors and the bridesmaids who were in violet combined with pink waistbands gowns, followed by the bride’s parents, entered too. Karen’s parents waited for her to enter, and then finally, stepping down from the calesa, the bride entered the church as the singer sang “How Did You Know” and as confetti showered upon as she entered, she might have been feeling as if she was walking in the cloud.

Everyone’s eyes were staring at here, she was the prettiest (she should be, it was her moment, their moment hehehe). That was it, the bride’s hands finally handed to the groom, expressing “Hey you’ll be mine forever” :-) The wedding ceremony has began, officiating priest was from Lusacan Tiaong, Quezon (sana naalala ko name nya no, but I do recognized him). The ceremony lasted for an hour. The newly wed was greeted by the fireworks outside the church afterward! Bonga!

We were fetched by a ride driven by carabaos going to the reception hall.

Bear, the symbol of the couple’s love, from the love story narrated by Martin, bear was the first gift given by Patrick to Karen and every morning, karen was always surprised to see bear in her table, when they were still in Hoya - this was the unforgettable company for them because their story began here. After the love story sharing, we were regaled by the Villa Escudero’s cultural presentation - Pandango sa Ilaw and Banga. All the other traditional wedding part followed including the bouquet and garter throwing.

The most awaited to be served, dinner by buffet. Surfeit! :-) After this, another traditional part was done, the couple danced at the middle of the reception and everyone pinned any amount, this will be the first hanapbuhay the couple will save.

And the gathering has ended, we left the couple at—-i wish I looked at my watch. The wedding that gone through an expensive efforts and presentation, the venue, the food the photographer and videographer, the fireworks, and all that. They say it’s the wedding of the year. Indeed! They both deserved it!

Congrats to the newly wed couple, may your marriage life will be forever, and I am sure it will be!

Life Begins at 40

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Friday Jul 23, 2010 Under Daily Living, Family, Filipino Tradition, Society & Culture

Panic, anxious, worried, these are some of the feelings I bet an individual who is about to leave the 30’s age and become 40. When this happens be sure to buy gifts for a 40th birthday of a friend. Anything will do, it’s the thought that counts. Yet, still since your friend will be turning 40 and will face a new chapter of his life, better yet, find something valuable and worth keeping. Gifts can be found every where, just learn how to scrutinize them.

I had given gifts for two most important persons in my life, my father and mother,.When they turned 40, I was attending my college classes then, the gift I bestowed them gifts were costless, it can never be brought every where, they were made personally by my hands, heart, and mind, that’s how they are important to me. You can do the same too, be creative and every thing will turn just fine.

Home is Where the Heart is

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Thursday Jul 22, 2010 Under Daily Living, Family, Filipino Tradition, Home Improvement

I see families spending their time along the highway, under the bridge and along the overpass, I also see falimies sleeping in a cart, or using a cart as their shelter . Where are their homes? Sad but true, that our country still belongs to a third world country - the poor ones, and the things I have mentioned are but a few situations and problems we long to solve. Many leaders have gone through this, yet remains unsolved. Hmmmm, I was just thinking, will the newly elected President be able to finally solve this? (wondering)

We are lucky to be sheltered under our homes, no matter what materials it was built. We really can feel that home is where the heart is, especially when there is love, harmony and unity within. We don’t need to acquire rustic furniture to call our house a home, the mere people living and spending time together. I am proud that I have a home to sleep with, to spend time with and to share laughs with.

I did hear from someone that we can call any structure as a home, whether it be a corrugated box, a cart, built under the bridge or along the high way, a home depends on the person or families living therein. I must say, it depends upon how perceive a home. Yours is a home too!

Will you tell the truth? What will you do if you are in a situation wherein you need to think whether to tell what really happened, whether to divulge the truth or not?

I don’t want lies, especially to a work, I’m an accountant, some do auditing some are being audited, and I am part of the latter. It was tough when you are under audit, auditors keep on asking so many documents, interviewing you of the transactions happened, why this is like this and that, they will keep on asking and asking until they are satisfied and you have justified the transaction. That is why, it is hard not to tell the truth and hide something, it will be very hard to undisclose something that you know will affect you in future. I am not good at that though, but others are.

In our Financial Management 1 subject, we have given a case relative to this. It is about Cindy Putman who had his first job at Wheeler Co. as an accounting clerk. Being new in the company, you have of course need to do the best and show the hardwork. She found out that the bank erroneously recorded a deposit Wheeler Co. made, an amount of $24,245 was recorded as $42,245 resulting to a $18,000 increase in cash. She told this to Mr. Wheeler, the owner of the company and advised her that she had no right of correcting the bank’s error, they will soon find it, meantime, Mr. Wheeler told Cindy to record it as a debit in cash and credit in retained earnings and reverse once the bank discovers the mistake, he told her to keep quiet and share the fortune. She obeyed him, thinking one day, the bank will really see the error. And one day she saw that she had an additional $500 on her paycheck, thought it was a bonus from a hardwork she showed. After two years, a tax audit was conducted by the Internal Revenue System or IRS and found out the increase in revenue. Being unable to explain the reason of the increase in retained earnings, the IRS charged the company a tax evasion. Mr. Wheeler told the tax agent that Cindy was the sole responsible and rarely brought him the issue, and the time the transaction happened, Cindy had little experience. In a private conversation, Mr. Wheeler impliedly told Cindy not to tell the truth, and that they will get off the hook. He even told her that the mere accepting the $500 he gave to her will surely put her in jail. Cindy was shocked, she expected some loyalty from him, she wasn’t even aware that the amount given to her was a fee for keeping quiet.

What would you do if you are in Cindy’s situation? The company was charged a tax evasion, and if Cindy will tell the truth, this might be changed, a penalty will do :-)

That is the case we need to analyze, and being an honest person, young and hardworking, I want to tell the truth to the auditor. :-) (Bahala na si Mr. Wheeler hehehe).

I was born of the 80’s, I am not sure if Pasig River was still clean and safe to swim with during that time. But I did hear of the song “Anak ng Pasig” by Smokey Mountain, this must have been the year where the river started to be filthy. Years waned since then, more than twenty years, what now is the Pasig River? Inhabitants are not abating nor decreasing, they just increase over the years, and this means that more and more human waste and garbage are being thrown in the river. This resulted to a worst Ilog Pasig case.

There have been many advocacies to help revive the Ilog Pasig. One of the countries leading network channel ABS CBN is helping to revive this river particularly their Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog foundation. At present, the network will be conducting a fun run dubbed as the “Run for the Pasig River” to be held on October 10, 2010 (or 10.10.10). I heard it from the news last night, and was interested to participate in this advocacy. This does not only for the river, it also aims to set a new world record for the largest participant in a foot race, current Guinness world record holder is 110,000 held last 1988 “Bay to Breakers” aa race in San Francisco California. Philippines will be aiming to beat that and hopes to gather 120,000 runners, as I’ve said, the main purpose of this is to earn funds for Pasig River rehabilitation efforts.

Everyone is invited, the whole nation is invited, those from schools, the military, private, government and corporate sector are welcome. Kids can join too, even lolo and lola, it’s not the typical run as it is called a fun run, you can walk though at a fun run.

I am interested to participate, and if you too are, you may register online via wwwdot 101010runforthepasigriver.com, there is a P250 registration fee for individuals and P100 for students and members of AFP. A nice bracelet will be given to the participants. Three categories are to be participated, 3K, 5K and 10K, each will be starting from different places. The 3K run will start at the Mall of Asia (hmm maybe I can choose this since I am living nearby), 5K will start at CCP (ah well, this one too, so near!) and the last, 10K will begin at the corner of Ayala Avenue and Paseo de Roxas in Makati City.

The fun run will congregate at SM Mall of Asia and a concert where ABS CBN start will perform is also to await.

Since the beginning of the advocacy to revive Pasig River, there are already visual changes happened, these were all possible because of the natio’s support and participation.

Let us continue supporting this kind of activity that will help revive not only the rivers or other places but the Philippines most especially. We people can make a big difference, let us join hands in hand and do our best. Change for the best is always happening :-) and we can always have it.

Anyway, there is solution here if those food we intake is converted into fat and accumulate in our bpody, try pull up bars, I am sure those hanging fats will disappear and will turn into muscles. Like it right?

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo by Proclamation No. 2085 has declared Wednesday, June 30, 2010 as a special non - working holiday to enable all Filipinos (not all :-) ) to witness the inaugural ceremonies for President Elect Banigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. As per the news that had been aired the incoming President had his eye glasses designed by Sarabia Optical, (have you noticed eyeglasses have been the trademark or identity of Aquino’s - Ninoy, Cory and Noynoy). Not only that President Noynoy has his own eyeglasses designer, news has it that he will also be having his own stylist - be it in hair or dress. Ahem, the old simple living man will now be the public’s property and to be watched over by many.

As the only son of late Senator Ninoy Aquino and President Cory Aquino, each Filipinos’ eyes are staring at him, watching carefully what steps, development or improvement will he do, if President Noynoy will bring back the country’s dignity and finally vanish the nuance of being the number one corrupt country. There are so many things to watch over, yet, we should not be focusing to that, remember that all those good things a leader can do also lies in the fellowmen’s hands, we need to go, help hand in hand in order to thrive, nothing is impossible if we join altogether, not to leave behind the government, they need our help, mind you :-)

We can make a change, we can make a difference, start it in our ownselves. Don’t just rely with the present administration, let us do our part :-)

As I have mentioned in my previos blog, I was one of the lucky bloggers who made it to register to be the guest in the Sunsilk Philippine Fashion Week. It’s a 13th season of the Philippine Fashion Week, it is a must see fashion show and events for all thouse fashionistas, with me as an exception.

Philippine Fashion Week started yesterday May 26 and will last until June 2, 2010 to unveil the Holiday 2010 collection from different local designers. The initial fashion show was luckily witnessed by me and my fellow bloggers. Other events and shows will be performed and conducted at SM MOA Atrium and SMX Convention Center just beside the MOA.

I will reviewing the very first fashion show I have ever attended and it’s the Sunsilk. Upon arriving the mall. I went directly to the event area and looked for Ms. Joyce Ramos who was the one attending the bloggers. I saw her right away because there was a black signed “BLOGGERS” and I knew the only girl in front of it was her. Without any reluctancy, I approached and asked “Ms. Joyce?, I am Dhina Lieva, a blogger” then she browsed the guest list and found my name, had me signed and handed me my ticket.

entrance ticket

The gate opened at 6:30pm, I sitted beside my fellow blogger Alex Dizon, second row away from stage, a perfect place to take photos and see models. Unfortunately, since we were very near, my neck stiffs until now as I was always looking up to the models watching and capturing pictures.

There were four Sunsilk variants introduced during that event together with the fashionable outfits designed by eight designers. Let me tell you something broad about it, as written by Annie Ringor.

“Sunsilk has once again brought an innovative concept to life by partnering with the world’s hair specialist to come up with products that address very specific hair types and conditions within each of their areas of expertise. It is shown in television as the new Sunsilk’s commercial. This fusion is known as “co-creation” and is unique to Sunsilk. Under this concept, two parties with complimentary expertise and a shared vision work together to create something new, different and better.”

Yesterday, the show started at around 7:15pm, hosted by Sarah Meier. She introduced the Sunsilk Co-Creation and then further discussed by the Brand Manager Jem Mercado, followed by the EVP Joey Espino.

Co-creators of Couture

Sunsilk Smooth and Manageable (pink) was the first variant introduced. Models ramped with couture designed by the tandem of Arnold Galang and John Paras.

2

3

Second was the Sunsilk Strong and Long - color green variant, visually represented the designs from the pair of Joel Escober and Raoul Ramirez.

5
4

The orange variant Sunsilk Damage Repair was the third introduced, models with couture designed by Chris Diaz ans Veejay Floresco. Stunning orange, lovely fashion designs I must say!

9

Ready to wear with a couture twist by Jerome Salaya Ang partnered with Lyle Ibañez were the designed donned by the fourth and final variant, the violet sunsilk. I want to say that I was impressed with these designes, it makes a lass more glamorous when these are donned. Even comfy to wear yet sexy-looking still.

After an hour of show, catwalking and presentation of couture of the eight designers, the show has ended. Presented before the stage were the entire models with Jem Mercado and Sarah Meier. The show lasted for an hour.

The event did not end there, all the guest went to Taste Asia for an after party dinner. I joined Alex Dizon and Nherz in this dinner. Music and live stream video presentation were done. There were also netbooks available so we were able to update what was happening then.

To all the bloggers, fyi, there will be a blog contest about Sunsilk by the way, I have yet to find what are the mechanics. I am sure many bloggers will join because laptops and ipods are at stake! :-) Nice, love it!

Because I still have to report for a night shift work, I left ahead of my fellow bloggers, left Taste Asia at about 9:20pm. When I exited the venue, the crew handed me my give away!! Yey, four bottles of new sunsilk co-creation variants… I will no longer buy shampoo for many months, thank you Sunsilk!!!

Photobucket

And so that is the present I’ve got, months supply of shampoo, weee :-)

Thank you so much Az Colladilla for sending us the invite, if not you, I will never have a chance to witness this show, I perhaps would be anywhere the event area looking for a best position to watch the show.

Thank you sunsilk for the luscious and eniticing dinner and the give away. And thank you Alex and Nherz and to the newly met blogger Sarah Cada, Jonel Uy and Ryan San Juan were also there, also spotted the Espacio couple. Hope to see you next blogger’s event :-)

Wedding of A Friend

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Friday May 21, 2010 Under Daily Living, Female Topic, Filipino Tradition, wedding

Tomorrow is Melanie’s wedding day, unfortunately, I have my class and I can’t attend to witness her once in a lifetime special event. Another sacrificed event, setting priorities, need to set aside some things for the fulfillment of my dreams. Nevertheless, bridesmaid gifts are waiting! I should have handed the couple gift in liue of my presence. I just wish them to live their lives happy together ever :-)

The last time I saw her was November of 2005 during the wedding of my cousin and at the same time classmate Lea Celemen, it’s been five years since I last saw her. Miss her and all of them!

I Voted and My First 2010 Automated Election

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Monday May 10, 2010 Under Daily Living, Filipino Tradition, Politics

Patience is virtue, and so if you want to be a true Filipino, you need the entire patience in you during this 2010 election. I had no idea that the PCOS (is this right) machine in our barangay were only three, imagine, these will accomodate thousands of voters from Cabatang Tiaong, Quezon. How many precincts did we have during the manual election, if I remember it correctly, we had I think more or less ten, compare to three?

I arrived in the elementary school at 9:00 am together with my mother. I did not imagine that there were still lots of people who weren’t voted yet when we arrived, earlier than us. I heard others did not endure the long line so they went home. Guess what time we got to vote, it was already 2:00pm, patience really was needed during that time.

And, I assisted inay with her votes, she hardly saw oval shaped to be shaded, too vague, and there my tatay’s turn, I assisted him too… And asked again by the two tiyo, same case, they hardly saw the ballots names and numbers, mabentang mabenta ang lola :-)

I finally get inked… Taken after a day I voted… Forgot to take photo while fresh.

Whoever wins this year, hopefully he will be able to uplift the country’s condition, we are to be considered destitute, unable to cope with financial crises, because, those public officials who made it to rule the country, starting from the barangay up to the senate and presidency, don’t mind the nation’s welfare but their own selves. This is the primary reason why we become a poorer and poorer nation, the government officials become a bit corrupt. We hear it anyway, we are the number 1 corrupt country! What is the sense of those heroes who fought for our freedom? What is the sense of saying Filipinos are worth dying for if you die because of hunger? Yes, we, the ordinary people of the nation, are already participating and trying to make the country at ease, the mettle is always there, always have the courage to do the best, for self, for the family and for the country, but all of these are futile, no matter how hard we try to uplift our condition if hinders by corrupt officials, everything will definitely be in vain! Sad…

Three years or six, we are always getting our chance and right to choose the public officials to rule the country, yet, it seems sometimes wrong, wrong to consider that we chose the wrong officials whom we’ve entrusted the nation’s future. To those who will hold the positions in three or six years, may you please be responsible and think of our future not yours? We can never tell what will happen to us, but if you whom we voted will only do what is right and put God first, surely, the Philippines will be as rich as those other countries. We don’t need to swim in a garbage, we don’t need to spend Christmas in the highways, we can make it happen, we can change our country, we can change the bad impression other countries have with us, we can bring back the reputation we had. Let us not waste the effort of our heroes, the past and current heroes.

Good Friday at Kinabuhayan

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Friday Apr 2, 2010 Under Adventures, Daily Living, Filipino Tradition, Society & Culture

This was the first time that I went out on a Good Friday. I went to Kinabuhayan with my two brothers and my father, also with my cousin and two of my brother’s friends. I usually spent Good Friday having picnic sa ilog namin.

The travel was not that long, it lasted for forty minutes from Tiaong Quezon. Afterwhich, we reached the paanan of Mt. Banahaw. Mt. Banahaw is closed for public and mountaineers, to protect it.

Amazing that there were lots of people at the foot of the mountain, taking their bath at the river. We climbed at the cave and went inside of it. Napakainit because of the lighted candles. Sweat flowed down, felt really hot! But felt good though, this was the time to sacrifice, oh not this time only, but all the time during our entire life.

I share the pictures I had using the LG cookie of my brother, unfortunately, the pictures were not as clear as the normal resolution of my digicam.

I went inside the cave together with my brother and cousin. The cave to said brings miracle, there is a water coming from the bukal. We lasted for forty-five minutes inside, the route is not that long, but because of many people bathing inside, we had a long time before we got into it. I felt good, it was my first time to experience it. Hope to be there again and be able to climb Mt. Banahaw.

A Call for Success

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Tuesday Mar 16, 2010 Under Daily Living, Filipino Tradition

“One of the best ways to set yourself up for success is to make sure the people you are choosing to spend time with have qualities that you want. Whether you realize it or not, the people you spend time with are rubbing off on you. Don’t think you can just sit in the lunchroom every day and listen to gossip and people badmouth the company and not be affected by it. Whether you join in or not, that poison is going inside of you. If you stay there long enough, more often than not, you’ll become a gossiper just like them. What’s the solution? Find somewhere else to eat lunch. Sit at a different table. Go outside. Yes, people may talk about you, they may think you’re odd, but you need to just rise above it. You have a destiny to fulfill. You are going places. You have to set yourself up for success by keeping that poison out of your life.

Psychologists tell us there is something called the “law of the group,” which means we associate with people according to the way we see ourselves. Have you ever noticed how, most of the time, people who gossip find other people who gossip? Negative people gravitate toward other negative people. Complainers seem to always find the other complainers. That’s where that saying “birds of a feather flock together” comes from. We find people just like us. Knowing this, I encourage you to evaluate your friendships. If your friends are all negative, tend to compromise, or settle for mediocrity, it’s time to get some new friends. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 13:20 that if you spend time with wise people, you will become wise. In the same way, if you spend time with victorious people, you will become victorious. If you spend time with successful people, you will become successful. So choose your friends carefully so you can set yourself up for success and be equipped to move forward in the destiny God has prepared for you! “

Article from Joel Osteen.

My former officemate from SLPI (now PiPlay) forwarded me an email containing “set Yourself Up for Success”. I did not read it right away, but I preserved it in my inbox as I know it is an interesting topic to read.

The message is true, there are so many hindrances for achieving one’s success, and one of these is the people you are working and spending time with. Whether you like it or not, you are somehow little by little becoming one of them, you go with the flow. No matter how resilient you are to go against it, sometimes it’s no avail. But, if you are really strong enough to just ignore what happens around you and go on with what is right, you are lucky, you are on a right track.

I remember when I was in a manufacturing company, one of my officemates from other department happened to walk with me and told me that gossiping and talking about somebody’s life is normal in their department. She told me when she arrived there, she became such because everyone in their department are fond of criticizing. I just shrugged and ignored because I know it will bring nothing to me.

We are the sole responsible for all what will happen to us, if you want it positive, treat life and everyone around positively.

Till then,

In Demand Job

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Saturday Mar 13, 2010 Under Daily Living, Filipino Tradition, jobs

I am sure graduating students are now nervous whether or not they could easily land a job after receiving their graduation certificates. I was once on the same shoe back when I had few weeks left before graduation, I even attended a job fair though I haven’t graduated yet, trying my luck that I might be considered and shorlisted, but I was not as I, according to them should graduate first. Like me, all of you who are expected graduates are so fidget nowadays, creating the best resume, planning where to apply after graduation and searching the net looking for best interview tips.

There is a must try in demand job nowadays that I advise for graduating students, compensation wise, it’s really great one especially for a first job. I am referring to a call center, this job really offers a nice and awesome compensation package. But wait, when trying to enter this job, you might want to attend a call center consulting to make you more adept in that field, test your English proficiency and literacy.

If only we already have lots of good call center when we graduated, I perhaps try that so I had not to spend eleven months looking for a job. My first was in a manufacturing company actually I have been to five manufacturing companies, and my current job, finally is a BPO. We also have a call center department in our company, so you might wanna ask me and check ours right.

It is sometimes tiring to look for a job, but you must be patient and diligent, persevere in trying to land one. Everything will be treasurable if achieved with best efforts right? For all the expectant (graduating student not pregnant :-) ), please bear in mind that without difficulty, without hardship and sacrifices, there will never be success, do’t lose hope if you can’t find a job right after graduation, it’s normal, it’s part of the game. There are many competitors out there, but if you have the confidence within and become the best of yourself every time you have an interview, I am sure, you will be lucky enough to be shortlisted. It is really a euphoric feeling when you will be able to pass all the screenings and job application process. Be smart and confident always 8) .

The Best Place To Go This Lenten Season

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Thursday Feb 18, 2010 Under Adventures, Family, Filipino Tradition, Society & Culture

It’s been a tradition for us Filipinos to visit any places during Lenten season. It started with Ash Wednesday last February 17. We have our different ways of commemorating God’s saving acts of His sacrifices to save His people. Some lends sacrifices by climbing mountains and having penitence. Others visit different stations of the cross.

One popular place to go if you prefer having penitence through mountain climbing is the Mt. Banahaw in Dolores, Quezon, it’s just roughly 100 kilometers away from Manila. The other one, if you want station of the cross is at Kamay Ni Jesus in Lucban, Quezon. There are hundreds of steps you need to go through in order to reach the giant Jesus. Have to pause also to different stations along the way for some prayers.

But our family used to spend lenten season at home with the rest of relatives and having picnic in the nearby river. That’s how simple our Lenten season is.

What Awaits This March?

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Monday Feb 15, 2010 Under Advertisement, Daily Living, Filipino Tradition, jobs

February is about to end, two more weeks and we will say goodbye to this love month. We’ve been very busy yesterday during Heart’s Day celebration. Everyone of us had something unique and special ways of celebrating this once in a year event. I had this a memorable one, it was my first time to celebrate this heart’s day, though loveless, I was able to enjoy my day..to the max!!! :-)

And it is almost over, March is fast approaching, and what awaits is the graduation day! Students specifically the graduating ones are all excited to receive their graduation certificates, step up of the ladder heading the stage and proudly receive a white paper or the certificate itself! I was thrice in this state :-) and I missed it, missed them! But wait, this moment of your life will divert to nervousness and vex feeling, after graduation you have to do job search and make sure to find and land a job suited for your course. But sometimes it really is hard to acquire a job right after graduation, like me, i had it nine months before finally entered a corporate world. Patience, perseverance and faith in Him should be in yours simultaneously, never give up and never lose your hope. Look for a job patiently and be smart and confident always, remember, an interviewer wants a smart and confident applicant!

Cheers to the graduating students!! :-) Good luck to job searching!

First Day of School…After 8 Years

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Saturday Feb 13, 2010 Under Daily Living, Filipino Tradition, jobs

Woke up early than usual, I can’t be late! I need to be there before eight. Not to create a bad impression to my classmates :-)

Six o’clock, my phone kept on alarming, oh no, i was still sleepy, snoozed it and had my sleep again. Then another alarmed, just went up, i really don’t need to be late, i need to prepare early. I made it to be there at seven thirty, and sat beside catherine tolentino whom i’ve met during the enrolment. We were in the front seats. Silence covered the cold room, no voice and noise were heard, then I noticed that it really sounded weird, so I started talking with Cath, this was the start where all of my classmates chatted with their seatmates, getting to know each other.

It took us forty five minutes to wait for our HBO (Human Behavior in Organization) to wait, (if only we knew that he’ll be late :-(  ). Mabuti na lang he taught us good, he taught well, he had so many jokes to make the discussion lively. He gave us the syllabus, course outline of the subject. We need to do reporting for some topics in the syllabus. His discussion ended with a prayer at ten o’clock, supposed to be 1130.

Our next class is 11:30, we don’t have any minute of break in between our three classes we will be having our classes beginning eight in the morning straight until six thirty in the afternoon, that was why we grabbed the opportunity to take our lunch. We first went to SIS and got our ID, hahahaha, nice naman pala may ID picture, i am curly-luuhh…. :-) love it! Funny, first one - most forgot to get my change, if only i wasn’t reminded.

And we had our lunch, mine was sizzling sisig, yum yum … I paid them one hundred bill, never mind of the change again, and when we were eating, the staff gave me forty-five pesos, “Ah may sukli pa pala ako”?, weeeeeeh, what happened to me, my classmates were laughing at me, Catherine, Jessa and Queenie… sorry naman, medyo antok ang talaga siguro.

Next class, we just waited in the classroom for a wee time compared to our first class, Decision Science, our professor had this introduction chuchu of ourselves, name, degree, school company and position not to forget stating the reason why we are taking an MBA. Then he discussed DEC SCIE history. He also left us an assignment - watch A Beautiful Mind (waaa pano ko magagawa assignment ko wala naman akong DVD player, and this netbook has no player as well :-(  ).

Last one, oh by the way our second ended at two supposed to be three thirty. Kagulo na naman ang klase of thirty three students, mostly are young, ages range from 22-38. Our last class Marketing Principles and Dynamics, the professor was not able to meet us, she left us the course outline, the topics to be discussed, which are all to be reported and discussed by us. We grouped ourselves into two, im with Catherine of course and got III-B, just forgot what topic is this. Another oblivious mind of me, Jessa asked me what topic are we going to discuss, I told her III-C, waaaaaa….so makakalimutin ko na agad… I just made a joke to cope with this shameful moment, “gusto ko kasing mahabang oras na magreport and mag discuss” Yey, uwian time (hahaha, as if we did not pay for this, excited to go home), bawi na lang next time! After some announcements and groupings, we all headed our way out of the GA204 room at two thirty, supposed to be six thirty.

That was my first day of class.

Tomorrow is valentines day, i am blue, but i will be going to Enchanted Kingdom for a Hug-A-Palooza event, this is free for the bloggers who registered to AZ. And if the time will still permit, I will go to SM MOA to witness the first day of PyroMusical, Australia being the first country to amaze us.

We Are the Painter of Our Portrait

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Friday Feb 12, 2010 Under Daily Living, Family, Filipino Tradition, Society & Culture

We are the master of ourselves, we are the one’s responsilbe for all our acts, therefore, we should always think of the cons and pros of all what we do.

Almost all of us experience different trials, and in our hands lies how we are going to deal with them. Are we going to treat them as nothing is there or make out the best to overcome them. I think what best is the latter, we shall not give up with the test of life, we shall make positive the negatives, let’s all be optimistic. We are the painter of our own portrait.  And the way we paint it will show how we live our lives, how we treat our lives. We need not to blame others for the blunders and flaws we’ve encountered, in our own hands lie the successes and fate of our own selves.

If you dream, dream high, but not just sit and dream, make your best to make those dreams reality, do your best in order to achieve them. Patience, diligence, perseverance and faith in God are needed to achieve those dreams. Never give up, it brings no success to you. Think positive, be optimistic!!

We don’t need to be rich or to have lots of money in order to be happy, remember, happiness worth no single centavo, it cannot be brought by money. It is earned and it’s being receive the way how you treat life.

We have lots of differences, we have different obstacles to surpass and cope with. Friendless, broken marriages, broken families, debts, jobless…. All these will be solved, will banish if we will make our best to oppose these obstacles, thrive more and persevere more.

Valentine’s Day is one of the most celebrated special events in the Philippines. And I believe not only Filipinos celebrate this, more people around the globe celebrate the heart’s day with their loved ones.

I started to be aware of this red day when I was in my elementary days, every February 14, we were asked to make valentine’s card for all the persons we love, not only those of our opposite sex but also our parents and siblings. Going back then, we usually created cards for our crushes.

Today’s celebration is very different, I mean today’s generation. It gets deeper and unique meaning as we aged. It becomes sweeter and lovelier. People spent much to buy a special gift for their partners. Lots of unique presents are given away. As per the traditional ways, we were really visiting shops personally and choose the best presents we may give. Good thing we don’t need to walk our way to different shops and pick our choices, it’s already available online.

I want to specifically talk about the most giveable and receivable gift during Valentine’s day; the flowers. Yes, you may now choose flowers online, browse through the exclusive line of products and help you select the perfect gift for your girl. I am referring to Island Rose. You may select from varieties products of Island Rose, perfect gift for us girls. First thing that comes into your mind is flower, if you think you can buy this at the flower shop only then you are wrong, as I said it’s now available online.

You can send gifts to the Philippines with Island Rose, farm fresh flowers are example. Most of the boys consume time of choosing the best flowers for their girls and before they can finally decide, these might get withered. We don’t want to receive withered flowers we want them fresh. This is why boys should try Island Rose.

Buying gifts like flowers at Island Rose will definitely make you happier and fulfilled. Island Rose delivers flower to the Philippines, across the Philippine Islands. Not only that the flowers are fresh, they are also grown in state-of-the-art flower farm, thus ensuring that the buyer will be satisfied for what they pay for.

Allow me to mention other the garnish of flowers from Island Rose, combine bouquets with light brown messenger bear to make the present sweeter – it comes with a hand-embroidered messages of your choice, you may also want to choose pure Belgian chocolate as an added factor (pogi points!), a love pendant would be another pogi points too, sweet and thoughtful of him! And a pack of luxury bath crate will also be interesting. I would suggest that for the abovementioned garnish or added pogi points, roses should be the main course. Roses has been the infinite favorite symbol for love and beauty. And be fret-free as Island Rose will surely deliver those roses right through your loved doors freshly cut from their farm.

Now why buy from Island Rose, what is Island Rose? I would choose this because it’s the largest retailer and wholesaler of roses in the country. It specializes in growing popular Dutch and French variety flowers using the state-of-the-art greenhouse facilities in the cool climate of Tagaytay, Philippines. At Island Rose, you are sure to have ordered high quality roses straight from the farm for delivery anywhere in the Philippines.
