Let’s Go GREEn!

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Tuesday Aug 31, 2010 Under Daily Living, Society & Culture

Can you picture how the world looks years back? Can you tell the differences between how the Earth looked before and after? There are triillions inhabitants on Earth, and everyone consumes many things that may affect how Earth will be. According to a story told me, God created Earth with green color, bountiful trees, mountains, as in the nature’s wonders were there. And as the years passed by and where more people are spending their lives here on Earth, these nature started abating. How can we turn back those times where air was fresh to breathe and where rivers were clean to swim with?

I remember I saw in a movie, people buy things using a paper instead of plastic. But look at us now, plastic, hand bags are used to carry our groceries. Why not try green shopping and use bags that are eco-friendly. In this way we can contribute with saving our mother Earth. I’ve seen a lot of malls offering green bags for shopping, these are reusable. It isn’t bad to try right?

Think for the future of our children and grandchildren.

Amazing Weekend

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Monday Aug 30, 2010 Under Daily Living, Family, MBA, Society & Culture

I wondered how I managed to stay awake the whole day of my Saturday class last August 28. I had my night shift work schedule and after my night Friday work, I went home, took an hour doze, and went to class. I was few minutes late, our professor was already inside the the classroom scrutinizing the case analysis presented by one of my classmates. It wasjust after the case presentation that our professor called our names for the attendance checking. I still made it :-) amazing! God is good! I did not feel any sleepy that day, I even did not yawn. Was it because I dozed with a comfortable bed mattress, or was it because I believed I will not be sleepy because of class?

Amazing weekend, read our research and case analysis (though not finished). Spent the time with my family, had my respite, slept and surfed. For me, that was amazing. Even the time I went back in Manila was amazing, I was standing for two and half hours in the bus, all seats were taken because of holiday and vacation. Brrrrr, amazingly, I stood still. Looking forward to another amazing weekend this week :-)

WaZz Upf?!?

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Monday Aug 30, 2010 Under Daily Living, Filipino Tradition, Politics, Society & Culture

Am i too lazy to go out and hear about anything, something about Tiaong Quezon?  Wehh, wake up dhynnes! I go home weekly, yet I rarely am hearing anything about my town, or, I am not that informed with what is happening around. Thanks to one of the social networking sites, it keeps me somehow informed. It was through that social networking site that I learned about our Mayor Action Man Dick Umali. I cannot tell the whole story or what had happened because I was not there. All I know is that, it happened in talipapa where our Mayor went for some action :-) someone took video of that and spread like fire in the web, posted in you tube and got viewed. Worst, this video was shown in XXX - one of the shows in ABS CBN, Mayor Dick Umali had been interviewed and explained what happened. Unfortunately, I did not see this show too, my brother did, he told us that it was shown on Monday, right after the hostage taking done by Mendoza.

We want Tiaong to be recognized in the Philippines, but not in the way like this. We want out town to be known as we have talented people like Katherine Loria, the 2008 WCOPA Grand Champion and who is making her singing career in Singapore. Tiaong where Ugu Bigyan came from and has made a name in pottery, and the Villa Escudero. Not enough though, I am sure there are many things worth recognition. Let us remember Tiaong who is making a name through the good citizens :-)

Christmas Time?

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Friday Aug 27, 2010 Under Daily Living, Society & Culture

Oh Em Gee! It’s Ber months already! Gifts wrapping, food tasting, attending reunion and parties, meeting relatives and friends, what did I forget? Oh, and a lot of sale items in the mall, I just wish ecco shoes here will be having their sale too!

Since ber months will start next week, we, I think, should start buying gifts to be given away, shun panic buying start buying now, otherwise, you’ll spend much on December, you don’t want that to happen anyway.

I am looking forward to a more challenging Christmas this year, many things will happen, and how will I manage anything. I know I can survive whatever challenges I am encountering, you as well. We should be positive and always keep on smiling. And I have the reason to do that, I have someone who will change how I celebrate my Christmas, I have someone, I have someone. :-)

Merry Christmas everyone! God bless us all!

Before I go into Halal certified food site, let me first say something what Halal means. Not all of us know what it is, honestly, I too did not know this :-). Halal is an Arabic word which basically means in conformity with the Sharia or Islamic law. Halal also means lawful or permitted. This basically pertains to permitted foods, and those not considered halal are the swine or pork and its by-products, animals improperly slaughtered or dead before slaughtering, animals killed in the name of anyone other than Allah, alcohol and intoxitants, carnivorous animals, birds of prey and land animals without external ears, blood and blood by-products and foods contaminated with any of the above products. As we may have noticed, eating requires extra care, watch what you eat.

Photobucket

With the foods I mentioned above, our brothers and sisters who only eat halal foods will be easily guided by using or reading the Halal food guide, this is also the reason why the Halal certified food site is created, to help our brothers and sisters determine what are the Halal foods and what are not. They may use and check out Halal products guide and they will never stray especially nowadays where there are many products in the market and sometimes unsure whether they are Halal or not. We may see it in the packaging, CERTIFIED HALAL, yet, are we really sure of it?

Halal certified food site consists of a list of Halal products and companies, these will help you easily determine what’s Halal and not.

Halal food products are safe, and indeed a healthy way to living. Long lives for all of us.

Get updated on Halal certified food and products in Facebook and be healthy all the way.

Turn Around

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Tuesday Jul 27, 2010 Under Daily Living, Society & Culture

As I was browsing my email’s personal folder, I found one email that is worth sharing, a statement that will make you turn around, turn negative into positive, here it goes;

“When you discover that you’re feeling negative, you have two choices. You can feel even more negative about the fact that you’re feeling negative, or you can choose to turn your thoughts around. When you’re suffered a defeat, you can make it even worse by beating yourself up about it. Or, you can use it as a positive inspiration to turn yourself around and move forward in a more effective way”

—-Ralph Marston–

I am an optimistic person, every time I feel negative feelings or thoughts are heading my way, I make sure to turn them into positive, being pessimistic won’t help you. Selecting between being optimistic to pessimistic which you can use as your an inspiration like some part of your defeat, I would probably would choose the latter too, it’s a way for us to learn, how would we know something is wrong if we will never experience it. Oh, and I am inconsistent. Okay, both are fine, you can either be positive and negative, just turn negative into positive, just turn around. The moment you realize you have strayed from the right path, use that realization as a clear and compelling signal. Use it as a signal that it’s time to re-commit to the original goal and get yourself back on track. Be it! Be optimistic at all time :-)

Social Networking Sites I Enjoy

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Tuesday Jul 27, 2010 Under Advertisement, Daily Living, Family, Society & Culture

It was only last 2005 when I created my first social networking site. I enjoyed it to the time that I always was logged in. Yet nothing was new, I just uploaded pictures, watched pictures of my friends and reconnect with some other friends that I missed. For three years, I was always having it updated. And then on 2008, an officemate of mine invited me to create an account to today’s hot networking site. I created mine, but at first, I was not enjoying it as much as I enjoyed the first one, with the first one, I can personalized my theme, however, with this new one, I haven’t, it was just plain blue and white. It took me a long time before I appreciated it, perhaps some Social Media Agency needs to promote it, until one day, I finally was enjoying using it. Up until now, it was fun seeing your old friends whom you’ve haven’t found for years, see their shoutouts hear the latest news and pictures. It was also memorable to me because from this site, I found my one and only :-)

I can say, I enjoy both, F_F, got what I mean? They’re both aiming to keep connected with friends and families. We just need to be cautious and wary posting something on it, other people abuse the sites, that is the bad side of it that we must be wary of.

Stay connected!

Life Begins at 40

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Friday Jul 23, 2010 Under Daily Living, Family, Filipino Tradition, Society & Culture

Panic, anxious, worried, these are some of the feelings I bet an individual who is about to leave the 30’s age and become 40. When this happens be sure to buy gifts for a 40th birthday of a friend. Anything will do, it’s the thought that counts. Yet, still since your friend will be turning 40 and will face a new chapter of his life, better yet, find something valuable and worth keeping. Gifts can be found every where, just learn how to scrutinize them.

I had given gifts for two most important persons in my life, my father and mother,.When they turned 40, I was attending my college classes then, the gift I bestowed them gifts were costless, it can never be brought every where, they were made personally by my hands, heart, and mind, that’s how they are important to me. You can do the same too, be creative and every thing will turn just fine.

It Touches Us

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Thursday Jul 22, 2010 Under Business, Daily Living, Society & Culture

One of the traditional ways of expressing our concerns, thoughts and love to our loved ones is giving them a card. It is but almost forgotten now in this generation. I was on this situation way back the 90’s. There was no internet during the early 80’s and I saw my cousins sending cards to her mother who was in Singapore. There were those cards with music.

And due to the invasion of modern technology, computer was born, DOS, LOTUS, and eventually, internet came in. The 20th century starts the urge to join different social networking, connecting people together. Just drop by their pages or wall, eave some message and okay. During special occassions like birthday, we may also go to their page and write some greetings, we can also send them custom business cards if it is business related. Too easy, we just need an internet connection and in just one click, out greetings will be seen right away. Unlike sending cards the traditional way, the receipient needs to wait for months before receiving it. But i like it this way, because I feel that I can sincerely express my feelings and love to that person though light years away. I believe it touches us more than receiving the greetings online or by SMS.

Will you tell the truth? What will you do if you are in a situation wherein you need to think whether to tell what really happened, whether to divulge the truth or not?

I don’t want lies, especially to a work, I’m an accountant, some do auditing some are being audited, and I am part of the latter. It was tough when you are under audit, auditors keep on asking so many documents, interviewing you of the transactions happened, why this is like this and that, they will keep on asking and asking until they are satisfied and you have justified the transaction. That is why, it is hard not to tell the truth and hide something, it will be very hard to undisclose something that you know will affect you in future. I am not good at that though, but others are.

In our Financial Management 1 subject, we have given a case relative to this. It is about Cindy Putman who had his first job at Wheeler Co. as an accounting clerk. Being new in the company, you have of course need to do the best and show the hardwork. She found out that the bank erroneously recorded a deposit Wheeler Co. made, an amount of $24,245 was recorded as $42,245 resulting to a $18,000 increase in cash. She told this to Mr. Wheeler, the owner of the company and advised her that she had no right of correcting the bank’s error, they will soon find it, meantime, Mr. Wheeler told Cindy to record it as a debit in cash and credit in retained earnings and reverse once the bank discovers the mistake, he told her to keep quiet and share the fortune. She obeyed him, thinking one day, the bank will really see the error. And one day she saw that she had an additional $500 on her paycheck, thought it was a bonus from a hardwork she showed. After two years, a tax audit was conducted by the Internal Revenue System or IRS and found out the increase in revenue. Being unable to explain the reason of the increase in retained earnings, the IRS charged the company a tax evasion. Mr. Wheeler told the tax agent that Cindy was the sole responsible and rarely brought him the issue, and the time the transaction happened, Cindy had little experience. In a private conversation, Mr. Wheeler impliedly told Cindy not to tell the truth, and that they will get off the hook. He even told her that the mere accepting the $500 he gave to her will surely put her in jail. Cindy was shocked, she expected some loyalty from him, she wasn’t even aware that the amount given to her was a fee for keeping quiet.

What would you do if you are in Cindy’s situation? The company was charged a tax evasion, and if Cindy will tell the truth, this might be changed, a penalty will do :-)

That is the case we need to analyze, and being an honest person, young and hardworking, I want to tell the truth to the auditor. :-) (Bahala na si Mr. Wheeler hehehe).

My First Cebu Pacific Flight Experience

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Wednesday Jul 21, 2010 Under Adventures, Daily Living, Hongkong, Society & Culture, Travel

I forgot to share the experience I or we had during our Hong Kong travel last July 3-5, 2010. We had to grab the Cebu Pac promo which had to be daparted from Clark Pampanga at Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA), the fare costed for more or less 6K each, exclusive of course of the travel and terminal fee amounting to P2,200 and P600 respectively.

Our first time at DMIA, we had to walk from the airport to the plane, maybe we need to don motorcycle jacket, it was hot! I recalled, one of the grandfys that we happened to chat for wee moment told us, “lalakad pa tayo sa disyerto” , I did not get what he used to convey, and then, I realized what was it when we left the airport and saw the plane that we need to reach.

We left the country on July 3, 2010, departure was smooth, and had my unwittingly moment, I  have shared it in my prior post, it was about the P80 coffee I ordered at the plane, thought it was served for free, poor me :-( I had my expensive coffee in the air! The travel lasted for forty-five minutes, and when we were getting lower and the altitude was not that high, I felt I was riding a roller coaster due to the high turbulence made, it was tough, bad and quite disppointing, my first time that way. I have not experienced it during my flight to and from Utah. Fortunately, this bad and turbulent experience was replaced by an amazing pilot who made our flight back to Philippines on July 5, 2010 - landing at DMIA smoothly, no turbulence. In fact, the passengers clapped to surprised and amazement, experiencing a smooth landing back to Clark Pampanga. Just wish all flights are like that :-) A job well done, a pilot worth a loud of applause, but I was so again so bad that I did not know his name, anyway, I still want to express my amazement!

The Reality

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Wednesday Jul 21, 2010 Under Daily Living, Female Topic, Life, MBA, Society & Culture

Time to unwind, time to relax, time to spend my wee hour earning (this is secret hehehe), I need to earn for my MBA, and hopefully I can get my target by mid-September (anyways, two months remaining, I am thinking positively). OMG, I hardly notice this, perhaps because I was so busy taking steps in achieving my plans and dreams, I hardly notice that I am already in my late teens *ngek* as if!, in my late twenty’s, I cannot feel that I am that though, I still feel the childish feeling in me, young and imature, imature yet mature (seems baffling isn’t it). I don’t need to use prototype 37c, I have this young feeling deep within :-)

However, though I feel those within, I must face the reality that it’s time to be serious, it’s time to preponderate see if things are well-organized. Will do this, soon….

When in Dire Need

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Wednesday Jul 21, 2010 Under Business, Daily Living, Family, Female Topic, Life, Society & Culture, jobs, living

I was told a story by inay when I spent my weekend at home in Tiaong, Quezon last Sunday, a story about how cheap the cost of living was during their young age. A single centavo was worth hundred during that yore time. I was thinking then how fast really the time passes, look at us now, a single centavo has no value anymore, what can you buy with that amount nowadays, nothing right? You cannot even make your basket full of goods with just P500 at hand, a big difference, everything seems so expensive nowadays, in this 20th century, how much more in the coming years? Can we do something to shun and even stop this fast economic changes?

Sometimes, you get dizzy and headache thinking where to get money when in dire need, tuition fees, monthly bills, housing or car monthly amortization, credit card bills and monthly due for loans. Let’s all face it, we do experience times where all expenses are coming simultaneously that you even do not know how to settle those obligations. Wheow, sigh, shrug and pray that you will be able to surpass those. I’ve been through this many times and thankfully, I managed to take them smoothly and responsibly.

We can do something to responsibly face our liabilities, just explore and think of positive ways that will help you take these. There are many ways around, try to widen your outlook, visualize your conjecture and materialize them! We are responsible for all the things happening to us :-)

AJA!

I was born of the 80’s, I am not sure if Pasig River was still clean and safe to swim with during that time. But I did hear of the song “Anak ng Pasig” by Smokey Mountain, this must have been the year where the river started to be filthy. Years waned since then, more than twenty years, what now is the Pasig River? Inhabitants are not abating nor decreasing, they just increase over the years, and this means that more and more human waste and garbage are being thrown in the river. This resulted to a worst Ilog Pasig case.

There have been many advocacies to help revive the Ilog Pasig. One of the countries leading network channel ABS CBN is helping to revive this river particularly their Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog foundation. At present, the network will be conducting a fun run dubbed as the “Run for the Pasig River” to be held on October 10, 2010 (or 10.10.10). I heard it from the news last night, and was interested to participate in this advocacy. This does not only for the river, it also aims to set a new world record for the largest participant in a foot race, current Guinness world record holder is 110,000 held last 1988 “Bay to Breakers” aa race in San Francisco California. Philippines will be aiming to beat that and hopes to gather 120,000 runners, as I’ve said, the main purpose of this is to earn funds for Pasig River rehabilitation efforts.

Everyone is invited, the whole nation is invited, those from schools, the military, private, government and corporate sector are welcome. Kids can join too, even lolo and lola, it’s not the typical run as it is called a fun run, you can walk though at a fun run.

I am interested to participate, and if you too are, you may register online via wwwdot 101010runforthepasigriver.com, there is a P250 registration fee for individuals and P100 for students and members of AFP. A nice bracelet will be given to the participants. Three categories are to be participated, 3K, 5K and 10K, each will be starting from different places. The 3K run will start at the Mall of Asia (hmm maybe I can choose this since I am living nearby), 5K will start at CCP (ah well, this one too, so near!) and the last, 10K will begin at the corner of Ayala Avenue and Paseo de Roxas in Makati City.

The fun run will congregate at SM Mall of Asia and a concert where ABS CBN start will perform is also to await.

Since the beginning of the advocacy to revive Pasig River, there are already visual changes happened, these were all possible because of the natio’s support and participation.

Let us continue supporting this kind of activity that will help revive not only the rivers or other places but the Philippines most especially. We people can make a big difference, let us join hands in hand and do our best. Change for the best is always happening :-) and we can always have it.

It’s Schooling Time Again

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Monday Jul 19, 2010 Under Daily Living, Society & Culture

Last June 14, 2010, students from public and private schools went back to attend their first day in class, meet their classmates and friends, and their teachers as well. When I was a student, I was excited to attend my first day of class and use my new school supplies, I am sure, all students feel the same way as I was.

With regards to undergraduate course, the high school students are starting to think and decide what course will they be taking up come college years. This is necessary, and what important is, the student should be decisive enough and be consistent to what course they want to take, don’t take the course just because your parents want you to take it, otherwise, you’ll regret it at the end. You may prefer to personally attend a class and discuss subjects, topics and learn everything face to face, meet new friends and be active. You may also opt to look for accredited online degrees and take subjects over the computer. But for me, I prefer to personally attend a class and meet my classmates and become their friends. It’s your choice though. What you need to have is the mettle to finish the degree and benefit from it.

Countdown Begins

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Wednesday Jul 14, 2010 Under Advertisement, Daily Living, Society & Culture

Half year has waned, another half to live, and hour is running so fast, as my POM professor told us last Saturday, you can bring back anything except time, it is so precious that we need to spend it wisely, do whatever we could do today. July, August, September, October, and then November, time for haloowen, custome party, and it is time to make use of Terminator Costumes! Be creative, choose the best and win prizes hehehe. Anyway, custome party is not only during haloowen, you can be at your best custome anytime don’t you?

Countdown begins, the remaining half year will surely run fast, we must do everything we can, materialize all the plans we have in mind. Be kind to to others, reconcile with enemies, 2012 is coming :-( And what are my plans though? Lots of plans in mind, hope I can do them all.

And by the way, first typhoon had hit the country, BASYANG. I had a sleepless night due to blowing, and whistling of strong wind, it seemd like there was a ghost, and darkeness embraced Philippines. First typhoon for 2010, fortunately, the damage was not that severe as compared to the ones caused by Ondoy last year. I am thankful that my family in my province wasn’t affected either. Hope no more typhoons, no more harm for us.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo by Proclamation No. 2085 has declared Wednesday, June 30, 2010 as a special non - working holiday to enable all Filipinos (not all :-) ) to witness the inaugural ceremonies for President Elect Banigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. As per the news that had been aired the incoming President had his eye glasses designed by Sarabia Optical, (have you noticed eyeglasses have been the trademark or identity of Aquino’s - Ninoy, Cory and Noynoy). Not only that President Noynoy has his own eyeglasses designer, news has it that he will also be having his own stylist - be it in hair or dress. Ahem, the old simple living man will now be the public’s property and to be watched over by many.

As the only son of late Senator Ninoy Aquino and President Cory Aquino, each Filipinos’ eyes are staring at him, watching carefully what steps, development or improvement will he do, if President Noynoy will bring back the country’s dignity and finally vanish the nuance of being the number one corrupt country. There are so many things to watch over, yet, we should not be focusing to that, remember that all those good things a leader can do also lies in the fellowmen’s hands, we need to go, help hand in hand in order to thrive, nothing is impossible if we join altogether, not to leave behind the government, they need our help, mind you :-)

We can make a change, we can make a difference, start it in our ownselves. Don’t just rely with the present administration, let us do our part :-)

The Best Way to Ease Your Pain is to Talk to God

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Wednesday Jun 23, 2010 Under Daily Living, Society & Culture

After a burst of pain and tears yesterday afternoon, I thought of comforting myself alone. At first I want to just prowl in the mall for a short time, it changed and I finally decided to visit Jesus Shrine just beside MOA and talk to Him. I wanted to release the pain I had, vanish the anguish within that suddenly strucked me. Fortunately, God’s door was open, He welcomed me with His two hands, and guided me as I walked and sitted in front of Him. I felt Him that moment, He embraced me and comforted me as I was talking to Him. Then how fortunate of me again that there was a mass, this had helped me finally eased the pain I had. After approximately one hour and the mass has ended, I left Him and went back to the office, not fully recovered yet half of the pain was gone.

Prayer is a very helpful tool for us to resolve any problem or wanted to achieve something. He is just thin distance away. I am not telling that you shall call Him only when you need Him or in times of your burden, but what I am saying is that, when you are having a heavy burden and found no one to share your emotions with, God is always there to comfort you. Utter some help, talk to Him as if He is in your front face to face telling what you feel, it really helps, tested and proven :-)

God bless us, pray always, thank Him for all the things we have and had :-)
