Pinoy Got Talent Final Semis

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Sunday Jun 6, 2010 Under Entertainment, Pinoy Got Talent

I was able to watch the final semi final of Pinoy Got Talent, semi finalists were from Baguio, Cavite, Bacolod and Cordillera, wait there still one but I forgot where she came from, the healthy singer whom I’ve said in one of my posts to try weight loss pills, she was big last night. Judges even asked her what did she do as she really gained weight. She told Kris Aquino, “Nothing, I did a lot of sleeping and drunk cold water” and she thought these were the reason of her being big. She also told them “Perhaps because of my dress, this was my first time to don this”. Hmmmm….

And the child, the blind child who sang May Bukas Pa, touched again the judges hearts, he made Ai-Ai and Kris cried. I myself also cried when I was watching him, he is very lucky that though he is blind God has given him a very great gift. Goodluck kid!

Hope I will be able to watch the PGT grand finals, I do not know when this is slated though, but i’ll see.

Till then,

First Time to Watch Pinoy Got Talent

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Saturday Mar 6, 2010 Under Advertisement

It was tonight that I was able to watch Pinoy Got Talent, a show to showcase the talents of Filipinos. Ai-Ai Delas Alas, Kris Aquino and (omg) I do not know the man. Anyway, they judge well.

And one of the hopefuls tonight was a thirty-year old single mother from Cebu (omg, I forgot the name, it was flashed in ABS CBN). She sang “I Believe”, when I  finally realized”… She perhaps would like to try some quick weight loss to look better on television, as she said, she weighs 256 pounds. I got carried away with her song, I shed tears because she was so emotional, according to her, she was being discouraged by her father when she was trying to join competition years ago. And it was during her PGT audition that she saw “for the first time” her father cheered for her. Voice like an international inger according to Ai-Ai.

Hope to watch some PGT episode and see many talented Pinoys!!

Typhoon Ondoy - the aftermath..

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Monday Sep 28, 2009 Under Daily Living, Filipino Tradition, News, Society & Culture

The country had been struck by typhoon “Ondoy” and what was greatly affected was the Manila area particularly Marikina (Provident Village), Pasig, Quezon City etc. and many provinces like Rizal, Pampanga, Bulacan Infanta Quezon. The typhoon caused heavy flood that measured the height of a man, mudflow and landslides. We were so fortunate, we in Tiaong Quezon, that we were not affected, it was just raining hardly, no much wind blowing. We had electricity so we can watch the news all day and night, and saw how painful, how grave the pandemonium was. I pitied my fellow Filipinos affected by this typhoon, they were staying over their roof, no foods and drinks. Cars had been drenched. Many had lost their lives, even some soldiers and volunteers shed their lives for saving people, another “HERO” act. I saw how our countrymen call for nation’s help in this natural disaster. Early of Sunday morning Kris together with Father Tito Caluag and Tina Monson-Palma led the call asking for pledges and donations through ABS CBN Sagip Kapamilya, and it was a great help for our countrymen who are in dire need. Some ABS CBN artists participated also to this activity by answering the phones.

My funny moment - you may want to laugh at my experience, i was surfing the net in our wooden-made kusina, that was around 1:30 pm of Saturday, the rain was so hard, and i saw that the big part of the mango tree in frontyard is falling as in i heard it falling, i felt it was just over the roof of our kitchen, para akong sira, hindi ako tumakbo or umalis from kusina because of sanga falling, natakot ako na mawala ang signal kaya hindi ako umalis sa pwesto ko, this seemed, hindi ako natakot na mabagsakan at madaganan, natakot akong mawalan ng signal at hindi makapag internet, i was just holding my netbook but not attempted to run out. Funny :-)

I hope that we all recover from this disaster, that we make ourselves ready and prepared in case something like this happens again. And that more importantly, we should learn from this, we also had fault, garbage are being thrown everywhere, sometimes we forget our mother nature, we are just thinking of ourselves, the best we could have not minding the nature. And i believe the effect of ONDOY was just one of the nature’s grievances.

I just opine…

The Legacy of President Cory Aquino

Posted by Dhina Lieva on Monday Aug 3, 2009 Under Life, News, Politics

I was five years old when Mrs. Aquino had been elected as Philippine President, and by the power of millions of Filipinos, she was able to dethrone Ferdinand Marcos who at that time, a dictator leader. I was innocent and unaware of what was happening around me by then, adding to the fact that unfortunately, we had no television to watch everything with. Through the years during my elementary days i realized and learned everything about her and Ninoy, but not fully equipped. And honestly, it was only during this time, now that Cory left us, that i fully understand what happened yore.

I was in my disbelief on Saturday morning as i watched the ABS CBN early morning SALAMAT CORY, i thought it was still part of the vigil last night, but then Julius Babao told in the show that our former president passed away at exactly 3:18 am while the whole family was reciting the 5th mystery of Holy Rosary. The whole nation mourn for the death of the momentous person who brought back democracy to our country, a true Filipino, religious and a fighter, she was not only a mother of her children but a mother of the whole nation.

The whole nation look up to her, even the other nation, US to name one, she had influenced many great leaders, admired her of her courage and will to serve people. She was the first woman leader of the country. And even Hillary Clinton admired her of her great love of the country. In an interview done by ABS CBN, “I’m so sorry, I wrote her a note a few weeks ago when I heard that she was so sick. I admired her greatly. She was a woman of courage who loved her country. She and her family sacrificed so much to try to give the people of the Philippines a better future. And I think that she’s an inspiration not only to the Philippines but to people everywhere who believe in the right values and positive future.”

My tears fell down as I watched every news with Cory’s death, more so when Kris was in The Buzz, interviewed by Boy Abunda telling all about her mother, all those pain our former president had gone through. I finished watching LABAN ni CORY on Sunday evening and it was then that i fully understood all something about them. How Ninoy fought for the country and pursued by Cory when he died. A very rich and nice history to tell for yesteryears. The couple trully is worth to be called HEROES.

What will be our life now if not for the couple’s effort of bringing back democracy? How will Philippines look like without freedom? This is the best thing they’ve done for us, because they trully and sincerely cared for all of us, to lift the country from the dire.

Let us all treasure what Aquino couple had done for our country, let us not forget their momentous contribution, they were indeed the true and real picture of nation’s leader, not afraid to fight, not afraid to conquer leaders who are abusing their powers and later corrupt the country’s wealth.

Till then…
